Texas Two Step / The Dance

The first popular two step originated in 1889 when The Washington Post requested John Phillip Sousa (leader of The Marine Band) to compose a march for the newspaper's essay contest ceremony. The song, called "The Washington Post March" became an instant hit and the two step was so identified with the song that it was often called "The Washington Post March."
Today's Texas Two Step is more similar to The Foxtrot of the 1950's and is known for it's step, step, shuffle pattern.
