Schroeder Hall /
Goliad est. 1890

Schroeder is located in northeastern Goliad
County and was originally settled by German immigrants in the 1840's. The first dance hall was constructed
in 1890 and when a new school opened the same year as Germantown School, the community became known as
Germantown. In 1918, as aresult of anti-German sentiments aroused by World War 1, the 35 residents of
Germantown renamed the community Schroeder, in honor of the first townsman killed in the war,
Paul Schoeder.
Entertainers who have performed at Schroeder have included Merle Haggard,
Willie Nelson, Mel Tillis and Tammy Wynette as well as the
Glenn Miller Orchestra and the Marshall Tucker Band. Roy Clark
played his first show as a profeesional here. Cross Canadian Ragweed, Pat Green and the Randy
Rogers Band have also played here.
Owners Jack & Sharon Kleinecke invite you to come enjoy Schroeder Hall
and the 5,000 square foot dance floor and see for yourself why the second oldest dance hall in Texas draws people
from all over the Lone Star State.
